How would you describe your photographic style?
I am a fine art photographer with an organic and playful approach. My goal is to capture the current chapter in your family's life and while I do give some gentle posing guidance, I also like prompt some fun and then step back to capture the magic of laughter and love.
When you book a session with me, I'll have you fill out a questionnaire so that I can get to know your family's story and personalities. I also want to know if there are special things you want to bottle up and remember when you look back. This might be how your oldest is a such a sweet, little mama to her baby brother or how daddy likes to dance with his daughters or maybe it's your newborn's incredibly tiny toes. Check out my family and newborn portfolios to see what to expect in the photos I deliver.
Will I get the digital images from my session?
Yes! My session pricing is simple and all-inclusive. I deliver at least 40 images in your digital gallery, printing rights included. I know it is important to invest in prints and products that will endure the test of time, so you can purchase heirloom-quality prints and canvases right from your gallery. You can also feel free to share all your favorite images with family & friends on social media and use them for your holiday cards!
Where will my session take place?
Family sessions usually take place outside in a natural setting or in a charming, historic downtown area. After filling out your client questionnaire, we'll nail down a great location to fit your family's needs and personality!
Newborn sessions always take place in your home, where everyone is comfortable being themselves! Welcoming a new baby into your home is a huge milestone in your family's history and it is so important to document all the special details wrapped up in this memory: the siblings helping out, mom and dad smitten over their newest addition, your baby sleeping perfectly curled up or his perfect glance up at you as you cradle him in your arms. Oftentimes, a special nursery space has been carefully prepared with love and I'll capture all those details as well!
What should I wear?
One of my main goals is to create beautiful, timeless art that you can cherish for years and generations to come. When choosing outfits, think soft neutrals like cream and varying shades of gray. Consider adding muted blues or pinks for hints of color. Have fun with layers and textures for interest and personality! Most importantly, choose outfits that you feel confident and comfortable in!
What if my kids don't "cooperate?"
You can set your kids (and husband!) up for success by telling them how much fun they are going to have at our session! I'm not after that perfectly posed shot with everyone looking straight at the camera with a polished smile. Often, I do get a few of those, but it is not my priority so most of our time will be spent running, twirling, tickling, cuddling and kissing (I'm looking at your Mom & Dad!). I know from personal experience that it can be a bit of a whirlwind getting everyone dressed, well-fed, hair combed and faces cleaned...not to mention getting yourself ready! Once you arrive, though, take a deep breath, relax and get ready to love on your family!
