Buffalo Grove Family Session

This sweet family had never had professional family photos done before, so I was thrilled when they chose me to do the job! They are all so kind and easy-going and I loved how the boys personalities were all so very different. We had fun at a Buffalo Grove forest preserve, running around, racing and looking for frogs over the bridge. I had a great time watching them play together and capturing their family story along the way! Here are some of my favorites...

Mini Session: Cousins

Here are some favorites from an end of the summer Mini Session I got to do for a family that is very dear to me. They wanted these photos as a gift for their mama...best gift ever, right?! I hope she loved them and will treasure them forever!

This little lady is 5!

My oldest daughter turned five a couple of months ago, but we've been waiting for warmer weather to do a little birthday session. When my husband fell asleep with the other two littles one afternoon last weekend, we snuck out for a date at a local bakery shop before heading to historic Arlington Heights for some fun photos. I LOVED our little mommy-daughter date and was soaking up all the hugs she kept giving me as she thanked me for our special time together. She was so excited to put together a dandelion bouquet for me and I felt so lavished upon by her giant heart. Those couple of hours together started a wonderful spark of reflection on the incredible little lady that she is and I found myself overwhelmed with the gift she is to me and our entire family.

This past year, especially, she has really grown up in so many ways. She started school, doing her morning routine pretty independently, reading a few words, and began taking on the role as big sister more seriously. I could do a huge post of photos from this past year, but for this little space, here are some photos from a little adventure we took after our cupcake date...

1st Communion Portrait Photography Session | Arlington Heights

This past weekend, I had the great blessing of doing a very special mini session for a remarkable young lady. Two weeks from now she will be making her 1st Communion, so we spent some time in the small and intimate St. James school chapel, capturing this milestone moment for her and her family to be remembered forever. She has such a big heart and showed such reverence while we were in the chapel. I was so impressed and felt very honored to be doing this session with her. Her beautiful dress was handmade, by her grandmother, out of her mama's wedding gown! How special is that?! I am so very excited for her big day!

Des Plaines Lifestyle Newborn Session

This newborn session was so fun to do! When Michael and Becky contacted me, they said their hope was to have lifestyle images with the family that would capture this special time of welcoming their little one into their family and their home. I think I squealed inside when I walked into their house, because it is BEAUTIFUL! Becky has such an eye for design and took such care with every single detail of the nursery and I loved capturing their little guy in this wonderful space. Baby was so content during the session and was such a joy to hold and cuddle in between images. When baby needed feeding or diaper changing breaks, I had so much fun following their other little guy around, watching him play and share some special interactions with his dad and grandparents who were in town. Thank you so much, Michael and Becky, for welcoming me into home to capture this priceless story of love and life! I hope these images are treasured for years to come and bring you right back to this incredible moment in time!

My Baby's 1st Birthday!

Everyone always says it, but it's so true...I can't believe she's already ONE! The year has flown by, starting off a little rocky with night wakings every hour, but as soon as we kicked this little peanut into her own room down the hall, she slept like...well, like a baby. I find myself being intentional with her in the little moments we get alone. When I'm feeding her or putting her to sleep, I breathe in deep to soak up that sweet, baby scent that is still lingering and I hug her a little tighter right before I lie her down. I just don't want to forget and all the time I tell my hubby that I wish I could just bottle up our girls' littleness to treasure forever, because it's just so dang precious. Cheers to our youngest on her 1st birthday and to another wonderful, joy-filled year of memories ahead!
